Nantucket, Ma

After our Hyannis ride, we are off to do some riding on Nantucket Island.  Above is our sister ferry coming into Hyannis from Nantucket.  Below, we are loading our bikes onto the ferry to Nantucket.  Sue and I did this ferry crossing 12 years ago during another bike ride.  Below, we are loading our bikes.   Beth took a pic of our masked up selves on the ferry. Leaving Hyannis Port is dazzling in the early morning light. Arriving in Nantucket is equally dazzling. Sandy contemplates the cobblestones on a Nantucket street.  Fortunately, the bike paths are not cobblestones as they are quite harsh to ride on. Soon, we were on one of the many beaches. The Sankaty lighthouse drew our attention during our visit, and we found that it had been moved back from the shore 400 feet in 2007.  It was being worked, so we did not get to climb to the top. Hyannis

Today was our day (ok, this was almost a week ago!) to explore Hyannis, MA.  The Cape Cod Rail Trail provided a way to cover a wide range of the town with being on the streets.  The trail is very popular here with lots of users. Even a bicycle shop next to the trail lured us in to look at the goodies and replenish our bicycle supplies. A few miles later, we arrived at the art museum and thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor sculptures and art in the gallery.  I especially enjoyed this artist and her changing perceptions.  About 20 women got together in the 2000s and practiced their art of painting.  In 2021, they decided to get together again after experiencing Covid times and paint again.  All 20 women had before and after paintings that were dramatically different.  M'Lou's description below and her two paintings gave me a wonder to ponder.
