Hertford, NC

Sarah, Randy, and I left Washington, NC on US17, our "favorite" East Coast Greenway road with an infinitesimal or more aptly noted as a "no" shoulder highway.  Traffic was moderate but this picture makes it look clear!

Riding this road, reminded me of Iowa.  The trees are a bit taller here but it looked pretty much like Iowa farmland.

But in a few miles, the swamps at the edge of the Tar River reminded me that we were not in Iowa.

A view up the Tar River from the Elmore Hodges Bridge.  Elmore was a long-time magistrate for Pitt county where the city of Grimesland, NC is located.

Different livestock populated the area.  :>)

Coming into Greenville, the city showed its green and peaceful sights.

We rode the Tar River Trail and the Green Mill Run trail in Greenville, part of the East Coast Greenway.

Sandy lining for a closeup of the UFO in the Park.

Now, this is trail infrastructure!!

Greenville has a bridge similar to Pont des Arts in Paris, just fewer padlocks for now.  :>)

My favorite.

Just outside of Greenville the swamps were plentiful along with turtles!

Another well-preserved bridge to nowhere!   ðŸ˜„
