Dolphins and Miami

A dearth of internet access and much fun riding, and eating lead to blogless days.  We experienced a thunderstorm at the Big Pine Key that lasted through the night.

The next morning sunrise was windy, wet, and not sparkling.  Since it was still raining, we elected to visit the Dolphin Research Center.

We did ride 25 miles in the afternoon and ended in Homestead, Fl for the eve.  There were sights.  :>)

We were so excited about finding an ice cream shop.  This is the before shot.  Within a minute we discovered the ice cream shop was closed.   It closes on a Monday twice a year and we were there during one of those two Mondays!  The after shot will not be part of the blog!

A farmer's market further up the road allowed us to restock the larder.

The next day Randy and I moved vehicles ahead while the gals rode the South Dade Trail.

On the starting line, Sandy, the racer took on the sloths, Beth and Sarah. At the gun, they were off speeding toward Miami.

After parking the vehicles, Randy and I rode a few feet backward on the trail and there they were, 15 miles later, meeting us head-on.

Beth took a break while the rest of us dove deeper into Miami on the M path.

The light rail train zoomed above periodically while we played dominos.  Eventually, we met at Shorty's for a BBQ lunch (and free parking for the magic sleds while we were riding!!).

Later in the afternoon, we drove through the remaining part of Miami then rode the South Beach trail in Miami, part of the East Coast Greenway.

The Atlantic Ocean lives on the other side of the dune.

After the ride, we moseyed to Hallandale, Fl.  where we spent the eve.

This morning we delayed riding till afternoon to grab an RV spot at the first-come, first-serve John Prince Park.  Along the way...

A praying mantis greeted us at our site.

The RV park was sited on a lake and was a grand ride in itself.  We completed a 20-mile ride around the city of Lawton and out to the beach taking in part of the East Coast Greenway.

We had duck and Iguana for dinner.   Wait, we may have just talked about it!!

  1. Great stuff. Lovely and sunny here but a bit on the cold side still.
