East Coast Greenway Ride

  After a great send off from Sarah's nephew, Jeff and his wife Loren, we finished listening to the book "Runner" stopping only for Tacos at a Taco truck. Yum!! The office at the Big Pine Key RV resort Our home base for a couple of days in the keys A community fire pit on the Atlantic.  The bridge connecting the keys together continues to the end key 30 miles away and our starting point. We are all enjoying a Jambalaya dinner courtesy of Edna from a couple of days ago.

  Leaving Panacea, a lovely bike path paralleled our drive. In the town of Crystal River, a couple of gorgeous murals caught our eyes. At the edge of town we took in some smoked mullet at the "Mullet Hut" Boiled peanuts (???)were also available.  The owner and cook of the hut has been here 6 years and is from New York...no plans to go back.  Randy and Beth chow down on some delicious mullet. Late afternoon brought us to Winter Haven, Fl where we parked Sadie and Buster (the magic sleds) in Sarah's nephew's driveway.   Penelope , one of their mascots is not sure this is the best idea.   We enjoyed a delicious dinner and a great evening with all.  Sarah now joins us on the East Coast Greenway ride. 

Onward from Biloxi, MS to our panacea in Panacea, FL. Passing over the bridge at Mobile Al, allowed us a glimpse of the USS Alabama. Randy unloaded bikes from the back of the motorhome and soon, we were on a soft sand road with road tires.  A poor combination for remaining upright! In a short time, we reached pavement and we had a lovely 12-mile ride. Getting our practice run for the East Coast Greenway! Cruising the Bayous. Flora and Fauna added delight to our ride. Cruising through Panacea reveals curiosities.

 Headed to Biloxi, Miss from Lake Charles, La Sandy just discovered that we were in Alligator country! Edna's was closed but she invited us in for a 2 hour lunch of stuffed peppers etouffee with Shrimp and crab Sandy was quickly trained as the sous chef.  The whole experience was a rollicking good time! In our Biloxi camp, everyone is so friendly.  So much for a vegan diet! Several views of the bayou around our Biloxi camp.

  Today Beth, Randy, Sandy, and I left Austin on our way to the Florida Keys to begin our East Coast Greenway bicycle ride to Calais, Maine.  Sue's Mademoiselle Grenouille (Gi-Gi for short) was already on her bicycle wished us happy travels. Here are the four of us, Sandy, Leo, Randy, and Beth, celebrating the survival care kit we received from Teresa...yum!! We are enjoying Sue's salmon and tortellini soup.  Sandy is snapping these pics while Sue and Leo, Beth, and Randy await the moment for Sandy to join us for dinner.  Gettin' close to Louisana...crawfish in Beaumont.
